I write this with a certain sadness and anticipation - We have a mere six months left together as pastor and people. The Sunday after Easter (March 30, 2008) Leah and I will conclude nearly twenty-one years of ministry among you. Retirement, the next chapter of my life begins April Fools Day, and Community Presbyterian begins preparing for your next chapter.
Over the next six months we shall do many things "for the last time" together. I'm conducting my last confirmation class; training the last class of elders and deacons; celebrating our last Christmas and Easter together; taking home communions for the last time, etc. These will be emotional times as we say "goodbye" and recall our twenty-one years together.
For now, we will continue in ministry together as always, in worship, study, and fellowship together. The church will not be left to wonder (or wander, for that matter!). The Committee on Ministry of Tropical Florida Presbytery will work with the session providing guidance and support. More on what to expect, later.
