This
year, as for the past several years, our Thanksgiving Offering will be
designated for St. Laurence Chapel in Pompano Beach.
Started in 1988, St. Laurence Chapel provides daytime refuge
for
the homeless and economically disadvantaged. It provides their clients
with 2 meals a day, shower facilities, clean clothing, an address and
telephone messaging center, and Adult Basic Education, along with
opportunities for worship. There is a Registered Nurse on the premises
to administer medical assessments. A master's level social worker
provides referrals for substance abuse treatment and mental health
treatment. St. Laurence Chapel also offers referrals for housing,
employment and food stamps, bus tokens or passes for job interviews, as
well as food packets for families.
During the past several years some members of our
congregation
have volunteered at Laurence Chapel to help serve a holiday meal. For
more info, contact the church office, 954.427.0222 or email us.
